Senior School
Year 7
Here begins the journey into the Senior part of the school. Here, students are taught by specialist teachers who have a passion for building strong foundations in relation to our students’ character and pursuit of academic excellence.
Years 8 + 9
Year 8 students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills and they can become ‘Ambassadors‘ for the school. They are given plenty of opportunity to study a wide range of subjects so that they are prepared when making informed choices for their options which they select during Year 9. With small classes (no more than 20) the students are encouraged and challenged to raise their game and overcome obstacles- transitioning into teenagers with a sense of purpose.
These are crucial years building up to, and beginning, the GCSE schedule. It is also a time when the students are challenged to mature and develop as citizens who can have a positive impact on society. These year groups form lasting friendships.
Years 9-11 are known as Delta
Students in Delta are encouraged to aim high and to be role models across the school. Year 9 students choose their options for G.C.S.E’s around February. Their views are very important and we always try and accommodate their requests. For example, in 2018 the students requested to study Computer Science which wasn’t on the curriculum. We introduced it for them and it has become a fixture for Year 9 options. The same in 2019 when the students asked for BTEC Child Development which was added to the curriculum in 2019 and has seen continuous uptake since then.
The Senior School Day runs from 8:40am until 3:30pm.
